The plot was intense and full of action. The story itself is pure Verne: I loved all of the dialogue and all of the conversations were so great! The whole book is action-packed, involving clashes with air pirates and daring escapes from perilous situations. It turned out to be quite a long story, really a short novel, and I rewrote it the next summer. It could work as a standalone though it is part of a larger trilogy. I never heard back from Roald Dahl directly, but he read my story, and liked it enough to pass on to his own literary agent.
