Yes No Thanks for your feedback! The plot was the best thing about this novel. I loved how the characters seemed very much well-suited for the time period. The mixture of adventure and romance was also commendable. The issue I have with this novel is the main characters. Lucien came off as an abusive, arrogant brat who doesn’t mind threatening his wife with physical violence bevwrley long as he doesn’t follow through with it.
As for Beth, while she started off as a champion uunwilling feminism, she was quick to forgive her husband’s violent nature.
Aside from the two unlikable central characters, I enjoyed the novel.
