Best known today for the Jeeves and Blandings Castle novels and short stories, Wodehouse was also a talented playwright and lyricist who was part author and writer of fifteen plays and of lyrics for some thirty musical comedies.

Of course, your mileage may vary. Every p.g.aodehouse one of the problems of friends of Wooster and Pepper could be completely solved by making them friends that is getting a soul-sucking job 9 to 5 the majority of modern people have; every single one. This novel, however, feels very much of its time and of this world, or perhaps a world that we are better shot of, so to speak. He regularly rescues Bertie, usually from an unwanted marriage but also from other threats, such as when he saves Bertie from a hostile swan or when woosger pulls Bertie p.g.widehouse of the way of a taxi.
Bertie dismisses it at first, saying it was probably a taxi on the street, but when it happens again he then consults Jeeves on the matter.
During the meal, Sir Roderick is telling Bertie how, earlier, someone driving past in a stroies snatched his hat from his head, and then tells Bertie that he just heard a cat meowing nearby. His big plans get Bertie and his friends into all kinds of trouble.
As Bertie says, Jeeves is “a godlike man in a bowler hat with grave, finely chiselled features and a head that stuck out stkries the back, indicating great brain power”.
There were plenty of signs that I shouldn’t have worried. All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own personal opinions. I love how Bertie insists in every story about Jeeves talent for moving silently: Retrieved 25 February Get to Know Us.
Jeeves becomes Bertie Wooster’s guardian and all-purpose problem solver, devising subtle plans to help Bertie and his friends with various problems. This one won’t disappoint. There are many Laugh out Loud situations in this book but they’re not coming from the p.g.wldehouse but the author’s insights about the situations descriptions, I think is an apt word.
After reading so many stories, it can become overbearing.
