It has the best description of the Dedekind cut I’ve ever read. It takes several reads to understand some concepts.
Lists with This Book. How to Prove It: For grad students, Hardy is a great single volume refresher for further work in analysis and more advanced algebra, including number theory. The problems require a skill that reading the book will not give you. The book was intended to help reform mathematics teaching in the UK, and more specifically in the University of Cambridge and in schools preparing to study higher mathematics. Now, I actually understand how the function behaves just by looking at it and in many cases I know the answer without having to use any of the ‘tools’ which we memorize in school and university.
While more contemporary introductions to real analysis like Rudin’s strive for elegance and perhaps seem tryingly terse while tying the subject neatly together, Hardy manages to convey an excitement about the subject that may be invaluable motivation for a beginner.
